‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ Gets New May 2014 Release Date

SplashPage The "Future" is coming a little sooner than "X-Men" fans originally expected.

Twentieth Century Fox announced release dates for several of their upcoming projects today, including "X-Men: Days of Future Past." While Bryan Singer's return to the "X-Men" cinematic universe was originally scheduled for July 18, 2014, it's now been confirmed that the movie is coming even earlier: May 23, 2014.

"Days of Future Past" inherits the former release date of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," the Andy Serkis and Jason Clarke-starring sequel that's now set to land on July 18. A little Hollywood do-si-do, if you will.

The move also makes next May a red-hot month for Marvel movies. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" swings into action on May 2, 2014, with the "X-Men" sequel-prequel hybrid hitting just three weeks later. On top of that, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will have already kicked off the summer season on April 4, 2014. In other words, the front half of the summer of 2014 is going to be jam-packed for Marvel fans, with the promise of "Guardians of the Galaxy" just a few months later in August.

DC, are you listening?
